Respecting Beliefs
My recent posts have involved more linking than thinking, but I guess just one more can't hurt. Brandon has an interesting critique of Simon Blackburn's essay 'Religion and Respect'. I haven't read the latter, but Brandon quotes the bits he's responding to, so that's no great problem. Anyway, it's thought-provoking stuff, and I highly recommend it. (It'd make a good submission for the Carnival of the Godless, actually. A change from their usual staple, of course, but in a good way. They had originally hoped to receive some thoughtful entries from non-atheists too, I think.)

I think I prefer Emily Post's metaphysics to Blackburn's on this one.
