Scopal ambiguity in action
My Weetbix packet informs me that "40% of Australian kids go to school each day without breakfast." That's a lot of kids who never eat breakfast!

Im unsure what you mean here? Are you saying you dont think that 40% dont have breakfast?
ReplyDeleteI expect they mean to claim that on any given day, 40% of schoolkids skipped breakfast.
ReplyDeleteThat's quite different from claiming that, for 40% of schoolkids, those kids go to school each and every day without breakfast.
